Description | Technology Assistant
This role focuses on daily break fix opportunities across the school district. As a district level support staff, this person will work face to face with students, teachers, and staff to troubleshoot any upcoming problems, and to train staff on using the tools available. This role demands the ability to problem solve, both independently and as a team, to use all resources to identify and solve problems, and the ability to work well under pressure. This role is a district wide service position, meaning that you are expected to travel throughout the district to address needs at all locations. A driver’s license and insurance is required for this position as travel is required.
DUTIES
- Provide face to face, phone, online chat support to students, staff and parents
- Provide timely support for technology devices including but not limited to Chromebooks, iPads, desktops, laptops, and printers.
- Repairs, maintains, and upgrades technology-related equipment; including but not limited to Chromebooks, iPads, desktops, laptops, and printers.
- Maintains an inventory of electronic components, devices, and equipment.
- Uses a work-order tracking system for routine repair and maintenance of equipment.
- Serves as a team player; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits professional and ethical core values of respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, and valuing diversity.
- Communicates effectively while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
- Performs other duties and accepts all other responsibilities as assigned.
- Ensure teachers, staff, and students know how to use available applications and hardware.
- Systematically troubleshoots technology devices.
- General knowledge of related information technology devices and software applications.
- Communicate effectively with users to determine the nature of problems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work independently and solve most minor problems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The person in this position will need to:
- move throughout school buildings and offices to assist with helpdesk ticket repairs and moving and/or installing equipment
- frequently move equipment and devices weighing up to 30 pounds
- demonstrate advanced knowledge of technology equipment, systems, and software
- exhibit familiarity with the basic operation and uses of standard information technology equipment
- occasionally ascend/descend a ladder to assist with servicing equipment
- help maintain computers and other technology equipment, including under desks and in server equipment spaces
- communicate effectively with all stakeholders including the ability to assist teachers and staff members in the use of technology hardware and software applications (including basic knowledge of instructional applications)
- provide timely resolutions of equipment problems
- systematically troubleshoot technical equipment
- manage, prioritize, and multi-task work appropriately
- must be able to problem solve and apply critical thinking skills individually and in with a team
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma required. Preferred Associate degree in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Computer troubleshooting and information technology resources and applications experience.
- Must have an active, unencumbered driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle
SALARY
Salary Grade 61
$2732.96 - $4423.56 per month
Full-time, Permanent, 12 month position
